Center History

Since its founding in 1997, CIME, in partnership with numerous universities and media outlets, has become a leader in the field of journalism training, notably in the Middle East, North Africa, and Asia. The Center has promoted the development of journalism education and media professionalism through forums, professional and academic workshops, conferences, and publications. Major initiatives have involved training in economic journalism, and the cultivation of partnerships between media and civil society organizations. In 1997, CIME helped to found the Arab-U.S. Association for Communication Educators and publishes AUSACE’s research journal, The Journal of Middle East Media.
