| Biography
Jim Roberts (Ph.D.,
The Pennsylvania State University, 1999) is a Lecturer with
primary research interests in cinema studies, cultural studies
and critical theory. His research has been published in
Enculturation, the Journal of Popular Film and Television,
and his essay “On Rhetorical Beings: Hoop Dreams and
Constitutional Discourse” appeared in D. Blakesley,
ed., The Terministic Screen: Rhetorical Perspectives in
Film and Film Theory (SIU 2002). His book length manuscript,
Shadow Zones: Cinema, Image, Affect, is under editorial
review. Roberts is supervising the film program’s
transition to classes accompanied by scheduled screening
times, and teaches a range of courses related to international
cinema (he’s recently taught seminars on French, Hong
Kong, Japanese and Canadian cinema). He serves on the board
of trustees of the Cliff Valley School in Atlanta and on
the editorial board of Enculturation.
